my DNA

Hello! I am Carolina Contreras Ortíz, woman, married to Raúl and mother of 2 wonderful children Diego and Florencia who are my great teachers in this life. I am a Textile and Clothing Designer by profession and a Chilean Visual Artist, creator of CAROLACONT ART.

Since I can remember I have felt a special attraction and fascination for Colors, Shapes and Textures.

I was born in a family where questioning things was a value. This characteristic marked my taste and sensitivity with breadth, an eclectic, multicultural outlook and deep respect for the different manifestations of art, music, poetry, religion and Faith.

I declare myself a lover of all artistic manifestations, without discriminating creed, political ideology, or absolutely anything, I just allow myself to be surprised by the wonderful creative capacity of each being and I enjoy it with total openness.

I would like to tell you that it makes me immensely happy to create, to give my own identity to objects, fabrics, papers, etc. with the intention of personalizing them and making them unique. I feel that being this way, they have a special character, a particular story and for me, a great value.

Also, I am fascinated by learning new things, because I feel that my mind expands and my soul enjoys!
For this reason, I am always constantly learning different techniques, (truly very transversal) from embroidery, aromatherapy, drawing, ceramics, weaving, dyeing, painting, mindfulness, digital design, stones and an immense etc... I hope to continue learning until day I leave this world.

I love to travel, learn about different cultures, play sports, learn, investigate, breathe deeply, connect, share with family, watch my children grow and treat our dogs.

One of the characteristics that I value most in people is honesty, that's why I adore simple people, who look straight ahead, who are not afraid to say what they think and who defend those they love. Other characteristics that I value and admire are sensitivity, empathy and gratitude!

For me, gratitude is a tremendous creative engine, which invites, inspires and challenges me. In my workshop I spend hours painting, drawing, meditating with music, aromatherapy, a candle and being grateful.
